5 Common Questions that we are asked!

As we know and understand, choosing a quality program, is not always the easiest thing to do.

We will do commonly asked questions periodically!

Please let us know if there is a question you would like us to answer!

  1. How long have the caregivers worked here? What’s the staff turnover rate?

Many of our staff have been with our program for over 5+ years. We have staff who have children of their own and want to be invested in their education, as well as staff who just have a passion for being influential in the lives of others.

The national average turnover rate in the childcare and early education industry in 2022 was just under 15%, ours has been 6% or less consistently since 2020.

2. How do you handle allergies or medical conditions in children?

We have several students in our program who have allergies, ranging from wheat, dairy, nuts, and citric acid. Each of our classes has a posted allergy list in their dining areas. This list includes a photo of the child, what they are allergic to, and if they are at risk of anaphylactic shock. As we don’t provide meals, parents send meals that their children can eat. We will separate (have children sit at a different end of the table) if a child does have an allergen and there is a risk of exposure. We also sit with or monitor during meal times and increase hand washing and sanitization procedures before and after meals.

3. How are children supervised during outdoor play and field trips?

During summer months we offer a summer camp program that is out on field trips daily. During these trips, we maintain the licensing ratio at all times.

Students are counted regularly throughout the day and tracked in our communication app. We also do headcounts and name-to-face checks any time we enter/exit a location, or vehicle to verify that we have the correct amount of students. This app allows us to keep a current roster of all students in each classroom, as well as name-to-face attendance checks are logged.

Teachers are identifiable in a uniform shirt, students are in an activity shirt, typically neon yellow for visibility this shirt has our program information listed on it and makes it quick and easy to glance at and make sure no one is separated from the group.

4. Do you provide meals and snacks, or do parents need to pack them?

We did provide meals for a very long time, unfortunately over time, and the regularly changing rules and regulations from the Child and Adult Care Food Program our food program was evaluated and ultimately we made the decision to end the program and students began bringing their meals daily.

We do however include regular cooking projects in our lesson plans throughout the year.

5. How do you handle naptime, and what is the routine for younger children?

We are required to offer ALL children a daily opportunity for rest or sleep regardless of their age. During this time, lights are dimmed, and soft music is played. Children who don’t nap are allowed to rest with a quiet activity in an area that is not disruptive to others.

This quiet time is scheduled shortly after lunch, students will eat, have their diapering or bathroom needs met, as well faces cleaned. We will read stories, and sit near children while they are falling asleep.
