Where were you on this day in 2001?
Where were you on this day at this time?
I was in a 6th-grade homeroom class, watching the morning news.
I remember the screen going blank because the administrators shut it off.
I remember the panic that began as everyone realized something was wrong.
I remember being scared and not knowing what was happening.
But, the biggest impact was that even though there was a tragedy happening, the teachers never once led on that they were scared.
They were calm and collected when addressing classes.
They were reassuring and caring to others who were scared.
They somehow managed to answer questions in a way that was thorough, yet vague while still being age-appropriate because no one knew anything at that time.
In about 2016, we had the opportunity to go to NY and see the memorial and visit the museum.
It was a life-changing experience and an experience that will never be forgotten.
It is a day that will never be forgotten.
